The Palmerston Road redevelopment sees the previously developed ‘brownfield’ site transformed

The Palmerston Road redevelopment sees the previously developed ‘brownfield’ site transformed with the construction of four new buildings for commercial and residential use, and two 15 and 17 story towers providing 187 flats, 1165sqm of office space (B1), and 695sqm of flexible commercial space and community floor space, along with vehicle and cycle parking spaces, and public realm landscaping.

Toureen provided a wide scope of works, including, but not limited to; the site set up, cut and fill earthworks, sheet pile retaining wall, pile matt, general attendance to the piling woks, reinforced concrete pile cap and ground beam foundations, basement construction, reinforced concrete ground floor slabs, capping beam construction, reinforced concrete frames, the design, supply and installation of pre-cast walls, the design, supply and installation of stairs to the stair cores, the construction of two tower crane bases, below ground site drainage, and the installation of all service ducting requirements.

Through early involvement and a collaborative approach with HG Construction, we were able to bring a number of innovations to the project, including an alternative foundation solution resulting in a saving of £812k, whilst also reducing the programme by eight weeks. We also worked with the design teams to reconfigure the basement space, saving 1834m3 of muck and 1563m3 of concrete.
