BRISTOL UNIVERSITY
Toureen was appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to deliver reinforced concrete frame works for the University of Bristol’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus. Opening in 2026, the development will provide world-class academic, research, residential, and community facilities for thousands of students, staff, businesses, and local residents. The project will play a key role in supporting innovation and economic growth across Bristol and the wider region.
Toureen was appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine on a 51-week contract to deliver the reinforced concrete frame works as part of the University of Bristol’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus development.
Scheduled to open in 2026, the new campus at Cattle Market Road, adjacent to Temple Meads Station, will further strengthen the University of Bristol’s position as a global centre for leading research, education, and innovation.
The development will accommodate approximately 4,600 students and 650 university staff, creating a collaborative environment where academia, business, and community partners can work together to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. In addition, residential accommodation on Temple Island will provide living space for around 900 students.
At the centre of the campus, on the site of the former Royal Mail sorting office, a 38,000 sq.m academic building is being developed to house the University’s Business School, digital engineering research groups, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre. The building will also include dedicated facilities for enterprise partners and community collaboration.
The campus will support and enhance the thriving data science, digital innovation, creative industries, cyber security, and quantum technology sectors across Bristol and the wider West of England.
Designed as an inclusive and accessible environment, the campus will also serve as a hub for local communities, offering public spaces and facilities shaped through consultation with civic and community partners. During evenings, weekends, and university holiday periods, the campus will host lifelong learning programmes, events, festivals, and research activities for the wider public.
Toureen is proud to contribute to a landmark development that will deliver lasting educational, economic, and social benefits to the region.
