HOPE CONCRETE

Toureen was appointed by Hope Construction Materials to construct a new bulk cement storage and distribution facility in Dagenham, designed to handle 40,000 tonnes of high-performance cement annually. The project included six 3,000-tonne storage cells, a 2,950m² bagging warehouse, extensive piling and concrete works, internal fit-out, drainage and external hardstanding. Delivered within three metres of a live Network Rail line serving HS1 and local Essex services, the project required careful planning and coordination to safely deliver the complex works within a constrained site.

The site location presented a significant challenge, with all works carried out within just three metres of a Network Rail line serving HS1 and local Essex services. Six 3,000-tonne storage cells were constructed using complex steel frames and raft foundations, alongside a portal-framed 2,950m² bagging warehouse. A total of 700 precast concrete units were installed to form the cement storage cells.

Piling works included the installation of 1,500 fully reinforced precast driven concrete piles to depths of 9m using two hydraulic drop-hammer piling rigs.

The project also included a full internal fit-out, incorporating the installation of internal pipework distribution systems. Enabling works comprised prefabricated office facilities and the construction of a new depot entrance. A deep drainage and attenuation tank system provided site-wide drainage, while 8,000m² of external concrete hardstanding was constructed. Infrastructure for services also enabled Toureen Group FORS Gold tipper lorries to access the site, supporting efficient programme delivery.
