T4 Hotel
Toureen was appointed as Principal Contractor to develop two hotels directly connected to London Heathrow Terminal 4. The two adjoining hotels, Crowne Plaza London and Holiday Inn Express London feature 755 rooms.
This prestigious hotel development consisted of an eight-storey reinforced concrete framed structure with two basement levels. Toureen was successful in securing the project largely arising from the alternative solution for the foundations and retaining walls. As a result of value engineering the foundation and retaining wall structures, we were successfully able to deliver significant savings to the client at the end of the project.
Client: Grove Developments Limited
Structural Engineer: Elliott Wood
Date of completion: 2017
Designing within the constraints of the Heathrow area posed a significant challenge, as did working in close proximity to complex existing service routes. Toureen used various innovative techniques to overcome these challenges, while also implementing an innovation that reduced the carbon footprint by the specification of 40% cement replacement in the reinforced concrete frame.
