Green Apple Gold Award Win

Toureen and Heathrow Win Green Apple Gold Award

Toureen and Heathrow Airport have been recognised with the prestigious Gold Environment Award at the international Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice, following Toureen’s earlier shortlisting in two categories.

Competing against more than 1,000 nominations from across the globe, the award marks a major achievement and recognises the outstanding environmental performance delivered on the Eastern Business Park project at Heathrow Airport.

The project received top honours for the safe demolition of the existing site and the successful completion of enabling groundworks to prepare for the next phase of development.

Presented at the House of Lords in Westminster, the award highlights the project team’s strong commitment to sustainable delivery, innovation and environmental best practice within a highly sensitive operational airport environment.

Judges praised the scheme for its use of lower-emission and circular economy initiatives, noting that the team operated with 54% HVO fuel, implemented solar-powered monitoring systems, and repurposed an existing building for welfare facilities.

They also highlighted the project’s excellent materials management, with 9,400 tonnes of the 11,480 tonnes of arisings reused as recycled aggregate, meaning only 7% virgin material was required.

Enhanced environmental reporting was also recognised for helping track carbon emissions and logistics performance while balancing the complex needs of stakeholders operating within a live airport setting.

The Green Apple Awards, established in 1994 by The Green Organisation, celebrate environmental best practice among businesses, councils, communities and countries worldwide.

This latest success reflects Toureen’s continued focus on sustainability, responsible delivery and innovation across its projects.
