Circular Economy Discussion
Toureen Contributes to Parliamentary Circular Economy Discussion
Toureen has taken part in a key parliamentary discussion on the future of sustainability and resource management in the UK, contributing industry expertise as the government develops England’s first Circular Economy Strategy.
Last week, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the Environment, chaired by Labour MP Andrew Pakes, brought together representatives from politics, business and environmental organisations to examine how circular economy principles can be implemented across a range of sectors.
Representing Toureen at the event was Sustainability Manager Claire Fundrey, who was invited to join a distinguished panel of experts to share practical insights from the construction industry.
The discussion focused on a newly proposed six-step plan designed to support the UK’s transition to a circular economy. The strategy aims to help retain valuable resources for longer, reduce environmental impact, strengthen long-term resilience and unlock an estimated £25 billion in economic benefits.
For the construction sector, circular economy principles can play a vital role in reducing waste, reusing materials, increasing efficiency and lowering carbon emissions throughout the lifecycle of projects.
Toureen’s involvement in the discussion reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and its active role in shaping best practice across the built environment sector.
The APPG initiative has received cross-party backing from MPs, peers, charities and businesses, demonstrating a united effort to rethink how resources are managed and how environmental progress can be accelerated across the UK.
Toureen continues to support practical and forward-thinking approaches that drive sustainable change within construction and beyond.
