Environmental Award Win at the Leading Lights Awards

When faced with regenerating a neglected and contaminated former travellers’ site, Toureen Contractors battled against adverse conditions to successfully restore the area back to a safe, natural open space for wildlife and local residence to enjoy. Working with Surrey County Council, Campbell Reith and the Surrey Wildlife Trust, the team tackled decades of neglect, fly-tipping, invasive plants, and ground instability from the legacy of a former quarry, which had left the land with little ecological value. After securing the site from illegal access and following extensive remediation, the project has laid the foundations to re-establish a bio-diverse and species rich eco-system. Transforming the derelict site has restored ecological and social value and given the public access to a peaceful new area of countryside.
